New Collection
In the second period of my internship, I was given more and more responsibility within the company and started working more and more independently on my assignments. At one point, I was asked to design two new styles for the standard A5 Christmas cards. With little input for the design, I set to work. It had to have something festive, and the other style something traditional, but especially not too Christmas-like. This was still a difficult task for me. After briefly discussing it with two of my colleagues, I started designing the first two versions of the cards.
Quite a few versions were made and uploaded for these cards. After each version, I received feedback from colleagues again, which allowed me to fine-tune the cards even further.
Here on the left you can see one of the first versions of the card. This one, with the candle and the slightly fancier look, was still a bit too Christmassy, which was just a bit too Christian according to those who provided feedback.
On the right you can see two variants of attempt two of creating the new standard styles. These were a lot better, but were still missing something…
After discussing with my internship supervisor, the other designer on our team, we continued designing the cards together.
After processing the last round of feedback, we ended up with, instead of two new styles, no less than seven new styles for the standard invitations. My colleagues and I discussed all these styles, did some more puzzling with the sample colours, and finally these became the standard styles (see images below).
Eventually, after we all agreed on the new styles for the standard A5 card, we started using them for several customers, and several different invitations were created using the graphics from the cards. So I implemented the styles in the standard gift bags, folded A6 cards and they will be used for even more kinds of invitations.
