InDesign

During my time at Horizon College, I significantly improved my skills in Adobe InDesign by working on various school assignments. These assignments enabled me to develop a good base of skills in this programme, which I would need in my future career. Nowadays, I discover more and more tricks in Adobe InDesign, but I also use the skills I learned at school.

Some of the named school assignments can be seen below.

Cocktail Recipe Menu

For this assignment in InDesign, my task was to design a cocktail recipe card, featuring a number of well-known cocktails, each with the preparation method. Prior to this assignment, I was given a list of cocktails to be included on the card, along with the recipe. I had to look up the photos myself to make up the entire menu. See the picture below for one side of the menu.

IKEA Catalogue

In the first year of my graphic design studies at Horizon College, I was assigned to create a spread for IKEA’s catalogue. On the right and below you can see two different versions of the spreads I made.

Business Card

One of the assignments I did in InDesign was to design my own business card. Without having a set corporate identity, I got to work and designed the business card shown here. At the time, I used a lot of dark tones for my own graphics, as can be seen the magazine cover of the assignment below.

Magazine Cover

I also created this magazine cover in the style I used for my own graphic products at the time. The assignment was to create a cover for a magazine about graphic design, with myself as author and graphic designer.

ADE

For this assignment, I was asked to design an A5 flyer for ADE, the Amsterdam Dance Event. For this existing event, I had to come up with my own theme. During the event, a lot of light shows and effects are used, which is why I named my theme “Lumine”. Lumine comes from the Latin word “lumen”, meaning “light”.
